The Geometry of Chemical Kinetics - Attracting Invariant Manifolds in Multiscale Model Reduction
Detailed chemical kinetic models are high-dimensional stiff dynamical systems. We formulate a variational principle for computing low-dimensional attracting invariant manifolds in the phase space for the purpose of model and complexity reduction. Differential geometry concepts are exloited and an efficient numerical algorithm is developed.
